Ulrich started his career in Germany, working first for Santander Bank before joining ING-DIBA (Germany) in 2003 to establish the Retail Credit Risk Management function. Over the next few years, Ulrich’s responsibilities broadened to include institutional credit & operational risk management, and collections.
In 2014, Ulrich became Head of Risk Management for ING-DIBA, responsible for credit, market, regulatory and operational risk. He was responsible for various projects among others: the Basel 2 accreditation for credit and operational risk, the German covered bond program and the risk management set up for the wholesale banking integration.
The following year he moved to ING Group head office in Amsterdam as Co-Head of Corporate & Retail Credit Risk Management. There, he had overall responsibility for credit risk capital models as well as taking on the role of Global Head of Retail Risk Management.
Ulrich has a Masters in Maths with Economics from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, Bonn.
