February 21, 2012 Michael joined ING DIRECT in 2009, bringing a wealth of treasury and financial markets experience to the role which sees him lead the Treasury of the Australia’s fifth largest bank. In this role, Michael is responsible for the funding and liquidity management for the Bank. In addition, he is responsible for the capital markets activities of the Bank including public debt issues and the securitisation activities. Prior to joining ING DIRECT, Michael held various roles in treasury, derivatives and liquidity risk management, at domestic and international banks including Macquarie Bank, Deutsche Bank and the Commonwealth Bank. In addition, to his extensive experience in Australian financial markets, Michael has worked in both Tokyo and Frankfurt, managing the pricing and risk management of derivative and funding transactions overseeing staff in dealing, marketing and middle/back office functions. Michael holds a Master of Commerce in Economics/Finance from the University of New South Wales and is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) and is a Certified Finance and Treasury Professional of the Finance and Treasury Association (FTA).
